At fifteen years old the sound of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s ´Live Alive´ ignited Lou Leonardi’s great passion for the blues and all music assimilated from it; Motown, Funk, R&B.
He started buying albums of such Blues masters like Albert Collins, BB King, and Albert King learning their guitar styles, tweaking them and creating his own. He listened to more contemporary artists like Robben Ford, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shephard but continued to learn traditional blues from James Cotton and Otis Rush as albums were the only school on which to learn his first blues notes. But true to his Italian heritage his taste gravitated toward female voices like Susan Tedeschi, Bonnie Raitt, Debbie Davies, Shannon Curfman and others.
As his skills became more honed he began working with some of the best local bands concert after concert, developing new experiences, always complemented by excellent musicians.
In 1993, with the group Blues Bound Train, he had the honor of singing a duet with the very talented Australian singer Francesca Andreoni.
In 1996 he joined the Vintage Blues Band, a group of great musicians featuring Lino Gerardi, drummer of Sergio Caputo´s jazz band. In the same year he and some friends founded The Rockers, playing the greatest hits of the sixties and within less than two years time performed more than five hundred nights.
Finally in 1999 he started his own project, Lou&theBlues. Over the last ten years he has worked primarily with them, changing personnel and styles more than once, creating an original style and a mix of sounds that manage to enhance the personality of the band. The final result is a cocktail of feeling and energy that makes Lou&theBlues easy to identify. Giving them their own strong identity and originality yet able to provide backline support for even the most traditional blues band
L&B have participated in some of the most prominent blues festivals in Italy. Torrita Blues Festival, Rocce Rosse in Sardinia, Woman In Blues in Ceccano, Vicenza Blues Festival, Trasimeno Blues Festival, as well as Lou’s self produced festival Blues DiVino and many others. They have shared the stage with the likes of Italian artist Tolo Marton, Volker Strifler, Phyl Guy, Popa Chubby, Enrico Crivellaro, Waldo Weathers, Junior Watson, Ana Popovic, Sugar Ray Norcia, Shakura S´Aida, Morblues Band, Tia Carroll, Andy Just, Shana Morrison, the Ford Blues Band and Italian artist Francesca De Fazi.

''Conosco Lou da molto tempo... lo sentii suonare per la prima volta inun club in Trentino-Alto Adige. Da allora in molte occasioni ci siamorivisti, siamo diventati amici, e naturalmente si son fatte delle bellesuonate assieme, condividendo passione per musica e chitarre. Nel corsodegli anni ho potuto assistere ad una sua maturazione musicaleveramente importante. Dico importante perchè, in un campo come quellodel blues, dove altri impiegano energie e talento nel rifarsi troppospesso a modelli sfruttati, Lou e il suo gruppo si sono diversificati,dedicandosi alla composizione e alla ricerca di un sound più personale.Chitarristicamente parlando, il suo fraseggio si è affinato sempre più,tanto che gli interventi di chitarra si pongono al servizio del brano,enon il contrario.
